A bunch of Miatas and a bottle of Iced Tea
Mondial Tech workshop
Many of our members are hungry for information on the care of their Miatas. Winter storage is an important part of that care. On the evening of October 22 we had the pleasure of attending a seminar put on by Todd Martin at Mondial Racing on McArthur Rd.
Todd gave a thorough talk on the preparation and storing of vehicles over the winter. He spoke and answered questions for about an hour. I learned a great deal and I am sure that most of the 27 present did also.
After the talk we moved to the garage and got Bruce's car onto the hoist. One of Modial's mechanics (sorry I forgot the name) demonstrated the removal and reinstallation of the brake pads. After seeing this done our mechanical members should have no qualms about doing their own brakes.
We thank Todd for the after hours session and encourage our members to have their mechanical work done at Mondial.

Our First Tour
Young women swooned, men gaped with open mouths, mothers hid their children as an Armada of Miatas invaded the villages and countryside of West Quebec. The Underground Miata Network affirmed its love of twisty roads in a spectacular manner, led over some routes that were made for Miatas.
Yes, our club experienced its first tour on May 4th and it was a great success. In spite of changed dates and times, in spite of closed bridges and Parkways, our excursion took place without a hitch. Participants are to be congratulated for not getting lost or crashing into one another. The weather was pretty good (Ottawa was the warmest place in the country that day). We numbered an even dozen cars -- they were not all red, and not a single one had a top.
Next year we will insist that the Tour de Quickie be finished more quickly.
Special thanks must be given to Gilles and Irene who did some great planning and made some quick ad lib route changes. It was an enjoyable day and we look forward to many more.
The Autocross
A vast parking lot in the middle of nowhere is not the nicest place to be early on a Sunday morning. The wind travels over open fields and pulls any heat from your body. Despite this, several members of the Underground Miata Network were on hand, tops down. The first autocross of the season was being held.
50 cars of all descriptions showed up, with about 7 being Miatas. The course was very fast and long - on the back straight, the Miatas were hitting third gear! Some described it as Solo I with cones. Lap times were in the 90-105 second range.
Unfortunately, the event ran overtime, and the UMN had to leave to go meet for the tour. We may not have stuck around to finish the event, but at least one television reporter won't forget the ride he got with our Disseminator of Propaganda!
