A bunch of Miatas and a bottle of Iced Tea
After hearing all week that rain was expected for the weekend we were pleasantly surprised to have a warm and sunny weekend for our tour. We gathered on the island for our departure to be greeted by our Pres. (Dell) who, although couldnt make the tour, wished to see us off. By nine, we were off on our adventure.
J.P. Sylvestre led us on our tour along highway 17 to Hudson where we hopped on the Ferry to Oka where we stopped for a quick lunch. After lunch we zipped along the 640 and 40 to get past Montreal and then went back to the preferred secondary highway along the St. Lawrence. We stopped just short of Quebec City for a late afternoon beverage break on a terrace overlooking the River.
Upon our arrival in Quebec we did a driving tour of the old city so for a short time the other tourists had another sight to see. We checked in at the Hotel Chateau Laurier and got ready for dinner. We strolled into the old city for a bite to eat, see the sights and of course shopping.
Sunday morning we gathered in the lobby of the hotel ready for another great day of driving. We left Quebec City and crossed the river to travel the south shore for our return trip. We travelled down 132 until we found someplace picturesque for brunch where we had ate and took lots of pictures of our cars. We continued on highway 132 to Sorel where we crossed on the Ferry into Berthierville. After a short visit to the Gilles Villeneuve Museum (and gift shop) we were off. From this point Alain Raymond took over duties of tour leader as J.P. headed off to visit relatives. We travelled west on 158 north of the Montreal area and in Lachute switched to highway 148. We stopped in Montebello for dinner and after a leisurely meal said goodbye to new friends and travelling companions.
As for the Iced Tea - Lets just say it made quite a spash. Next summer we hope to extend our tour an extra day and tour the countryside near Quebec City.
