Imagine this whole hillside bright gold. I'm coming back here next fall. Oh, and I only stop to take photos when the road is easy. There are no shots of Basil scrambing, as I was driving at the time. Just around this corner, I did come across a Buick that was well and truly stuck, about to tumble over the edge of the trail. He was on his way from the other side and I'm amazed he got as far as he did. He couldn't have come over Engineers, he must have been coming from Silverton. A local had been hired to get the car out and I helped to drag it back on to the road. The local (a funny dude who had been doing this a long time) was going to help "coax" the car out the way I had come in. It wasn't there when I came back the next day, so he must have got it out. I wonder what it looked like when he was done - Basil had some interesting moments coming down.
